UKpedia24 is an independent guide for people who live in, are moving to, study in or work in the United Kingdom. We publish practical guides, free planning tools, prayer times and a business directory in Arabic and English. Every rule, fee and date we quote links to the official source, so you can check it yourself before you act.
Why UKpedia24 exists
Moving to the UK means dealing with many systems at once: visas, the NHS, council tax, schools, tax and National Insurance. The official information exists, but it is spread across hundreds of pages, and it is not always clear which rule applies in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Our job is to put the steps in order, explain them in plain language, and send you to the right official page.
Who it is for
- Newcomers in their first weeks: students, skilled workers and families joining a relative.
- People still planning a move who want to understand costs before they apply.
- Arabic speakers who want the same information in their own language. The Arabic side of the site is our largest.
- Businesses that serve these communities and want to be found in the directory.
What we publish
- Guides: step-by-step pages such as your first month in the UK, registering with the NHS, getting a National Insurance number and eVisas and share codes.
- City pages for London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast.
- Tools: the visa cost calculator, take-home pay calculator, absence tracker, living budget, licensed sponsor search, stamp duty and mortgage calculators, and My plan. Most tools keep your data in your browser.
- Prayer times for 74 UK cities, with a monthly timetable and Qibla direction.
- The business directory: mosques and Islamic centres, halal and Arab restaurants, halal shops and Islamic schools, organised by region and category. Basic data comes from OpenStreetMap, and owners can correct a listing or add their business for free.
How the site is funded
UKpedia24 is free to read and use. It is paid for in two ways:
- Advertising from Google AdSense, shown on our pages. Advertisers have no say over what we write.
- Featured directory listings. Standard listings are free. Businesses can pay to appear at the top of their category and region, and every featured listing is labelled “Ad”. Payment does not change our review: a featured listing must pass the same checks as a free one. See how featured listings work.
We do not take payment to write about a product or service in our guides.
What we are not
- We are not a government body. We are not linked to the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration, HMRC, the NHS or any council. A link to an official page is not an endorsement of this site.
- We do not give legal or immigration advice. GOV.UK states that all immigration advisers must be registered with the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) or be a member of an approved professional body. Find an immigration adviser on GOV.UK ↗ before you pay anyone. Our directory has an immigration solicitors and advisers category.
- Our calculators give estimates within the scope stated on each tool. They do not decide whether you qualify for a visa, settlement or a benefit.
- A directory listing is not a recommendation. Check a business’s qualifications and reviews yourself.
Who writes and checks the content
Pages are written and reviewed by the UKpedia24 editorial team. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. Read our editorial and verification policy to see how we choose sources, handle corrections and label paid content.
