This tool shows how much actually arrives when you send money from the UK to Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, the Gulf, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh or India. It compares transfer companies and UK banks in one table, ranked from most received to least, and the figures refresh every few hours.
Why compare what arrives, not the fee?
Transfer providers earn in two ways: a fee you see before you pay, and a margin hidden in the exchange rate. A provider can advertise “no fees” and still give you a rate below the market, so your family receives less. That is why the number that matters is the “Recipient gets” column, and “Less than best” shows what you lose by choosing anyone other than the top row.
The “Rate” column is each provider’s rate after its margin. “Mid-market rate” means the provider uses the market rate with no margin and earns only from the fee. To see the market rate itself, use the pound to Arab currencies converter.
How to use it
- Choose the country you are sending to.
- Choose the amount in pounds: 100, 250, 500, 1,000 or 2,000.
- Read the first row: it delivers the most right now. Then compare it with the provider you normally use.
Figures are for a standard bank transfer from a UK account to a bank account abroad. Cash pick-up, mobile wallets or paying by credit card can change the fee and the rate, so check the final amount on the provider’s screen before you pay.
Before you send
- Check the company is authorised in the UK. Search for it on the FCA Financial Services Register ↗. Firms that transfer money must be registered or authorised there.
- Avoid informal “exchangers” offering a better rate over WhatsApp or Facebook. You have no protection if the money disappears, and your account can be used for money laundering without your knowledge.
- Enter the recipient’s details exactly as on their ID and bank account; one wrong letter can delay a transfer by days.
- Compare on the day you send, because prices move during the day.

Where the figures come from
The data comes from the public comparison service published by Wise, which collects quotes from transfer companies and banks. Wise is itself one of the providers in the table, and we show the ranking exactly as it falls by amount received, whether or not Wise is on top. No company pays us for its position, and we are not a money transfer business. Some countries, including Syria, Sudan, Yemen and Lebanon, are not covered by this service, so they do not appear in the list.
FAQ
What is the cheapest way to send money from the UK to Egypt?
It changes daily. Choose Egypt above and look at the first row: it delivers the most as of the last update.
Are banks cheaper than transfer companies?
In most comparisons UK banks add a larger margin to the rate, so less arrives. The table labels banks so you can compare for yourself.
How often are the figures updated?
Each currency and amount is refreshed roughly every 3 hours. The time of the last update is shown under the table.
Why is the provider’s app showing a different amount?
The rate may have moved since the last update, or you chose a different payment or pick-up method. The binding amount is the one the provider shows before you confirm.
