This page lists official changes that may affect your plans in the UK, and the changes we have made to UKpedia24 itself. Each item gives the date the rule takes effect and a link to the official page, so you can check it before you pay or apply. An announced change is not treated as current until its effective date.
Immigration fees: announced table for 8 October 2026
The Home Office has published a table with a future effective date. As reviewed on 20 September 2026, an announcement is not treated as an early fee change. Supported calculator items are unchanged in that table; check your specific route before payment.
The GOV.UK fee page now holds two tables: Home Office immigration and nationality fees, 8 April 2026, which applies now, and Home Office immigration and nationality fees, 8 October 2026, added when the page was updated on 10 September 2026. What to do:
- If you apply before 8 October 2026, use the 8 April 2026 table.
- If you apply on or after 8 October 2026, use the 8 October 2026 table.
- Open the table for your own route. Our visa cost calculator covers the main routes only, and the visa cost guide explains the health surcharge and other costs.
Study: check post-study plans against application dates
The government Student visa guide distinguishes Graduate visa duration by application date, with separate treatment for doctoral qualifications. Check the route before basing a long-term plan on a single duration.
| When you apply for the Graduate visa | How long it lasts |
|---|---|
| On or before 31 December 2026 | 2 years |
| On or after 1 January 2027 | 18 months |
| PhD or other doctoral qualification | 3 years |

How we decide what goes on this page
- We list a change only when an official source has published it, with its effective date.
- We do not list rumours, consultations or news reports as if they were rules.
- When a change takes effect, we update the tools and guides it affects and note it here.
