Most UKpedia24 tools keep your data in your own browser and never send it to us. We use Google AdSense to show ads, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only if you accept them in the cookie banner. The rules that apply are the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Who we are
UKpedia24 (ukpedia24.com), an independent guide to living in the UK, is the controller of the personal data described here.
To contact us about your data, use the contact and corrections form, starting with “Privacy request”.
Data that stays in your browser
- My plan, saved guides and the absence tracker: tasks, trips and budgets are stored in your browser’s local storage. They are not sent to our server and are not synced between devices.
- Calculators such as salary, visa cost and stamp duty run in your browser.
- Prayer times: “Find my nearest city” uses your location in the browser only; it is not stored or sent to us.
Clearing browser data deletes this information, so export a backup first. The button below deletes tool data only, not your cookie choice.

Cookies and your consent choice
On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Your answer is saved in your browser.
- If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4 (cookies such as _ga, which Google says last up to 2 years) and Microsoft Clarity (cookies such as _clck and _clsk), which records clicks and scrolling.
- If you reject, neither is loaded.
- To change your choice, clear this site’s data in your browser settings. The banner will appear again on your next visit.
Directory account holders also get WordPress login cookies to stay signed in.
Google advertising
The site shows ads from Google AdSense. The AdSense code loads on every page, and Google may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Our current banner covers analytics only, not advertising.
Google’s own policy says that personalised ads for visitors in the UK need consent collected through a Google-certified consent platform ↗. Traffic without one may only receive non-personalised or limited ads. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services ↗, and manage ad personalisation in My Ad Center ↗.
Who else handles data
- Google (AdSense, and Analytics if you accept): Google advertising policies ↗ and GA4 cookie usage ↗.
- Microsoft (Clarity, if you accept): Clarity cookie list ↗ and Microsoft privacy statement ↗.
- Cloudflare sits in front of the site and processes connection data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect against attacks: Cloudflare privacy policy ↗.
- Our hosting provider stores the site, messages and accounts.
Gold and exchange rates are fetched by our server, so those providers never receive your details. Some of these companies process data outside the UK under their own safeguards. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
- Browser-stored tool data: until you delete it; we hold no copy.
- Contact messages: until the question or correction is dealt with, and no longer than 12 months.
- Directory accounts and listings: while the account is active; we delete both when you ask us to close it.
- Analytics data: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics and Clarity accounts.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can get a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time. The ICO explains the right of access ↗, the right to erasure ↗ and the right to object ↗. Send requests through the contact form with an email address for our reply.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office ↗.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when our services change. See also our terms of use and editorial policy.
